From the Owners...

Even though this summer is going by quickly, there's still plenty of events going on in the area...

July 31 - Kentuck Days and the Klassic Kar Antique Show in Crandon.
Sept. 4-6 Crandon International Off-Road
                Championship Races
Sept. 26-28 Three Lakes Musky Classic
                    fishing tournament

Plus all the other things to see and do in the northwoods area, like ATVing on the many Hiles town roads and trails through the Nicolet National Forest. Earlier this week us and a few friends went ATVing up to the Tipler area and then down to Popple River. Great scenery... and so quiet and peaceful on the trails. We saw a bear, several deer and a fox along the way.

A big welcome to the Wisconsin Mycrological Society staying with us this week for their yearly mushroom-picking get-together and foray.

The annual Hiles Vol. Fire Dept. Trap Shoot, held on July 17th,  was another rousing success. The shooting range was busy all day with people shooting traps, a lot of food and refreshments was consumed, and the dunk tank was again a popular attraction. A big Thank You to the dunkees, which included fire dept. staff from Hiles and Argonne, the two candidates vying for the position of Forest County Sheriff, Keith Van Cleve, and John Dennee, and even several fire staff from the Clintonville fire dept. that showed up and voluntered to get dunked.  Money was raised for the fire dept. to buy more equipment. Thanks to all who made this year a success!!

Some news for Pine Lake in Hiles. The area lake assn. and the DNR contracted with a company to cut down some of the weeds in the lake, particularly along some of the boating lanes and popular fishing spots. That started this week, with more to be done in August.

We have only a few rooms left for the Labor Day weekend. If you plan on coming up that weekend, be sure to make your reservations soon. We're also starting to fill up for the first week of deer hunting season in November.

Come. Enjoy. Relax. We do everything we can to make you feel welcome and  your stay enjoyable.
